WASHINGTON STATE PTA Legislative Platform
The Washington State PTA (WSPTA) legislative platform is a two-year platform to mirror the Washington state legislative cycle. In the even-numbered years, the new platform is voted on by members at the legislative assembly in the fall. The top five issues become our short-term platform and consist of our priority issues when advocating throughout the year. Other issues are placed on an “also supported” list. During the odd-numbered years, members vote to amend current issues or to add new, emerging issues to the also supported list. Details and links for these issues are listed below:
- WSPTA "TOP 5" LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES FOR 2025-2026
- Closing the Funding Gaps
- Addressing the Student Mental Health Crisis
- Addressing Funding, Inclusion, & Supports in Special Education
- Preventing and Reducing Gun Violence and Suicide
- Expanding School Construction Funding Options
- WSPTA SUPPORTED ISSUES
- Increasing Education Equity by Closing the Digital Divide
- Mitigating the Adverse Impacts of Climate Change
- ADVOCACY EVENTS
- WSPTA Focus Day - January 19, 2026
- Our Forest View PTA President and his family attended this event, to help advocate with elected officials to close funding gaps and ensure financial stability for schools. They were also able to network with other PTA leaders from across our State, as well as tour the Capitol.
- WSPTA Legislative Assembly - October 18-19, 2025
- Our Forest View PTA President attended this event, representing our PTA as a voting delegate. In addition to voting for one Issue, two Principles, and three Resolutions, he also attended training classes pertaining to K-12 education funding and amplifying student and family voices.
